Amazon Kindle Fire Release Date: What Special Features Are Included?

At Amazon's New York City press conference today, the company revealed its new $79 Kindle tablet. The e-ink based e-readers are priced at an affordable $79. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos broke the news today next to a host of other Kindle related announcements.

The $79 Kindle e-reader comes with a host of features. This model is 30 percent lighter than its larger predecessor and weighs 5.98 ounces. It now comes reshaped with an 18 percent smaller body that makes it easier for people to pocket the device.

The tablet still features the same 6" screen size as well. The new model maintains its directional pad and page turning buttons.

The cheaper Kindle tablet comes with the most advanced E-Ink display and has built in Wi-Fi. Books can be retrieved in 60 seconds from the devices online book selection.

Over 800,000 titles for the tablet are currently priced at $9.99 or less. Amazon has also given users the ability to borrow Kindle books from any public library in the country. 1,400 total books can be carried on the device. Kindle books can be also be read on an iPhone or iPad. Other Android devices such as the BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 features Amazon's free Kindle Reading Apps.

This tablet will also make it easier for users to read their e-book's in the sun, since the screen has no glare.

The Amazon Cloud feature comes as well, allowing users to store any book content that he or she may lose and need to re-download.

Whispersync technology is now a part of the new tablet. This piece of software synchronizes someone's last page read, saves bookmarks and manages annotations across other Kindle devices.

Amazon is expected to build 12 million new e-ink Kindles this year, including 8 million new $79 models.

The $79 Kindle e-reader tablet is already set for pre-orders on Amazon's website. A version without ads will cost more at $109, where as a version that will include ads and pop-ups will cost the cheaper $79. They will officially be sent out and shipped to stores on Nov. 21.
