Amber Rose Defends her Inverted Cross With Beyonce
Amber Rose, the model and socialite married to rapper Wiz Khalifa, may have posted a picture with singer Beyonce on Instagram recently, but the inverted cross that seemed to be tattooed on her forehead received more attention than both women.
Rose, 29, posed with Beyonce during the Made In America festival that took place in Philadelphia, Pa. recently. While Rose took to Instagram to let fans know that she was chatting with Beyonce about their respective son Sebastian and daughter Blue Ivy, many people were focused on the inverted cross on her forehead.
"My sweetheart @beyonce and I chopped it up about Bash & Blue Ivy they're gonna get married 1 day.... Bash likes older women Lol," Rose captioned the photograph on Instagram.
While it is unclear whether or not Rose's marking is permanent, fans questioned if the inverted cross was anti-Christian.
"Why the upside down cross tho," one person questioned on Instagram.
Other people accused Rose of being a satanist.
"Need to turn that cross right side up and get with #TeamJesus," another individual commented on Instagram.
Rose responded to critics of her facial inking.
"An upside down cross is a St Peter's cross.....it is not satanic," she tweeted. "Look it up before u speak ignorance. Good Day."
In 2011, Rose appeared on HotSpotATL.com and explained that although her rapper boyfriend smoked marijuana her faith prevented her from doing the same.
"I'm a Christian," Rose previously said.
Beyonce, the 31-year-old singer featured in Rose's photograph has also been vocal about her own faith in the past.
When Beyonce began her music career 16 years ago, she made it clear that she was raised as a Methodist Christian. While the singer has not been as vocal about her faith in recent years, her documentary "Life Is But a Dream" gave fans a glimpse of her spiritual side when it premiered earlier this year.
In one scene, the entertainer becomes emotional when she speaks about her grandmother's prayers having a direct impact on the blessings in her life.
"I don't know why I'm so fortunate and so blessed," she said in "Life is But a Dream." "I know my mom always told me that my grandmother was in the church lighting candles for her and I am a result of my grandmother's prayers and my mother prays for me all the time and I pray for my mother all the time."
