AMD Ryzen Rumors: Box Art, Prices and Details Leaked Online
Ryzen leaks are all over the internet as the launch date nears for Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD) new processor. This time, what is purported to be the box design and a partial price list of 17 models have been spotted.
WCCF Tech has posted a feature on a leak from a Thailand-based retailer, presumably adjusted to the U.S. dollar. It is not clear how this conversion has been made, so take everything as a very loosely confirmed speculation. That said, the prices look to be similar to those of other leaks. As with the previous rumors, the listing includes different models separated into three tiers: eight core, six core and four core models.
The flagship models of the processor series, the rumored AMD Ryzen 7 lineup includes the fastest chip in the set — the AMD 7 1800X. The central processing unit (CPU) in the Ryzen 7 series is said to have eight cores, 16 threads, and 16 MB of cache across the line. High-end model 1800X may have a 3.6 GHz base clock speed boosting up to 4.0GHz for about $499. The Ryzen 7 Pro 1700 is at the other end, with a reported 3.0 GHz base clock boosting up to 3.7 GHz, for what could be $299.
The Ryzen 3 series is composed of AMD processors without the Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) feature. The leaked specs for them are four cores running four threads, with 8 MB of cache. The fastest for the series is the 1200X, which may run 3.4 GHz to 3.8 GHz and may sell for $149. At the lower end is the Ryzen 3 1100, with clock speed ranging from 3.2 GHz to 3.5 GHz, and it could retail for $129.The Ryzen 5 series is reportedly a mix of six core and four core models. The six core models may have 12 threads and 16 MB of cache, while the four core chips go with eight threads and 8 MB of cache. At the top is what could be the Ryzen 5 1600X, running 3.3 GHz, up to 3.7 GHz boosted, worth a rumored $259. Last of the list is the Ryzen 5 1300 that can run from 3.2 GHz to 3.5 GHz, and may retail at $175.
The product listing leak also came with the box art, which may or may not be representative of the final retail product. The supposed packaging is black, with the Ryzen logo prominent at the front, and is large enough to include a heat sink fan inside.
A similar leak from a Belgian retailer, but without the box image, has been spotted by Videocardz.
