AMD vs. Intel: Ryzen 7, 5, 3 CPUs and Core i7, i5, i3 Prices, Performance Compared

It looks like war is ahead for Intel and AMD as both semiconductor companies' latest offerings are compared. If a leak is to be believed, then Intel's current gen processors will be no match for AMD's upcoming processors both in performance and price range.

According to WCCFTech, specifications and clock speeds of AMD's Ryzen series have been leaked to the public. And, by the looks of it, Intel's Skylake and Kaby Lake processors will wane in comparison.

However, it is important to note that Intel may be planning to fight back with its upcoming Coffee Lake processors, which are expected to hit the market in late 2017. Although nothing specific has been announced by the company, an expected improvement of 15 percent has been noted.

AMD plans to release three variations of the Ryzen chips: 7, 5, and 3. First of all, the Ryzen 3 1100 is the most affordable among the lot, starting at a price of $129. This processor will have an 8 MB L3 cache and a 65 W TDP. Its base clock starts at 3.2 GHz, achieving a boost of 3.5 GHz. The Ryzen 3 1200X, on the other hand, has a turbo clock of 3.8 GHz. This processor costs $20 more.

As for the Ryzen 5, prices start at $175 and can go up to $259. The processor has a base clock of 3.2 GHz and a boosted clock of 3.7 GHz. The Ryzen 5 has AMD's XFR, otherwise known as Extra Frequency Range, which is a feature from the company that turns on overclocking automatically when the need arises.

The most expensive variant, the Ryzen 7, will retail for as low as $319 and as high as $499, which is still more affordable than its competitor's best offer. The Ryzen 7 has a 16 MB cache and contains a base clock of 3.0 GHz to 3.7 GHz. Overclocking speed can go up to 4.0 GHz.

AMD is poised to release the Ryzen series in early March.
