'American Horror Story: Hotel' news, cast, spoilers: Another series alum taking part this season
"American Horror Story: Hotel" has started filming recently. Although the cast is already strong as it is, with big names like Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, and Matt Bomer (a first-time regular) being part of this season, the goal of the show is apparently to make viewers forget that headliner Jessica Lange will no longer be taking part this season. Now, according to Design n Trend, another alum has been confirmed to join the "Hotel."
The alum is Mare Winningham, who is set to play the role of the establishment's laundress, working closely with Mr. March, played by Evan Peters. For avid viewers of the show, they would know that this is not the first time the two had to work closely as she had already played Alicia Spencer, Peter's abusive mother to his character Kyle in season 3, "AHS: Coven." While in season 4, "AHS: Freakshow," she played Pepper's cruel sister, Rita Gayheart.
Winningham is an award-winning actress, having received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in the 1995 film "Georgia," a Tony Award, and has been an eight-time Emmy Award nominee, winning in 1980 and 1998. Alongside countless of films, she has also appeared on "Broadway," debuting in 2013.

Aside from Bates and Evans, Winningham will be joining other alumnae: Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Chloe Sevigny, and Finn Wittrock. Other newcomers are Cheyenne Jackson, Denis O'Hare, Max Greenfield, and Naomi Campbell.
Show creator Ryan Murphy shared during the San Diego Comic-Con that many other familiar and fresh faces may check in later into the season. He also opens up the challenge he had into penning this season's script. He shares, "[It's] challenging to write 'Horror Story', particularly this season which is about a personal fear and phobia that I have that I haven't explored since the first season of 'Horror Story' because it f--ked me up and I didn't want to write about things I was scared of -- but I wanted to go back to that."
The premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel will air on Oct. 7 on FX.
