"American Horror Story: Hotel" News: Character Details Revealed
Horror fans are eagerly anticipating the premiere of the horror anthology series "American Horror Story: Hotel" on October 7, 2015, on the FX Network. As if to fuel the anticipation some more, the show's creator and one of the series' lead stars were interviewed by Entertainment Weekly for a special report in the magazine about the show. The EW report cited Ryan Murphy and Lady Gaga who gamely shared additional details on the occupants of Hotel Cortez.
The series, like the previous ones that came before it, features a very macabre and creepy world with equally creepy characters inhabiting it. The setting is an old hotel called Hotel Cortez. It was established in the 1930s by James March, an eccentric gentleman who is described as a "rich and charming but deeply psychotic" person. He built the hotel in order to hide his evil activities. Actor Evan Peters appears as James March and he shows up in flashbacks during the series.
The lead characters are The Countess (played by Lady Gaga) and her lover of 20 years, Donovan (played by "White Collar's" Matt Bomer). Both of them are plagued with what Ryan Murphy called an "ancient blood virus" which makes them crave for human blood. They need to satisfy this craving naturally by killing and feeding on other people - the Countess, according to the cast photos, does this with her "chainmail glove with razor-sharp claws." Murphy was quick to say that they are not vampires with fangs and capes. The Countess is also described as someone who has "limitless hunger" for both sex and blood. She is taken with a new occupant of the hotel, a young model named Tristan, played by Finn Wittrock. She then proceeds to seduce him and manages to infect him with the "ancient blood virus" she carries. Tristan is seen as a source of conflict between the Countess and Donovan.

Donovan is also dealing with his own emotional issues because his mother, Iris, is the one who runs the hotel and his relationship with her is not exactly your usual mother-son relationship. Iris is basically staying at the hotel because she wants to take care of her son. Iris is played by Kathy Bates, who returns to the series again. Angela Bassett will play an actress, Ramona Royale, who is also a jilted ex of the Countess. Her character will conspire with Donovan to seek revenge.
Wes Bentley will play the character of a cop, John Lowe, of the LAPD. He stays at Hotel Cortez as he investigates a serial killer going by the name Ten Commandments Killer. In the hotel, he meets and gets attached to a junkie who goes by the name Hypodermic Sally. Sally is played by Sarah Paulson. Lowe is however a married family man, making his relationship with Sally a complicated one.
