'American Horror Story: Hotel' News, Update: Co-Creator Ryan Murphy Teases The Countess' Chainmail Gloves
Ryan Murphy, the man behind FX's critically-acclaimed thriller drama TV series "American Horror Story," recently took to his social media to post some updates for the show's upcoming installment, "Hotel."
The picture that particularly caught the attention of fans this week was a horrifying image of what clearly is the hand of Lady Gaga's character in the series.
For those who missed it, the "Bad Romance" singer is joining this season as Elizabeth, the owner of the Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles – the setting for Season 5.
The Countess, as what she is also known, appears to be reaching out to the back of a girl using her silver gloved hand with sharp, pointed nails at the end.
"Gaga will get you," Murphy's Twitter post reads.
One of the highly-anticipated newcomers in the FX anthology, Murphy teased in earlier interviews that "The Countess" has a penchant for blood. Although she drinks it, it does not necessarily mean that she's a vampire.
"I prefer the term 'ancient blood virus,'" Murphy, who also served as the showrunner, told Entertainment Weekly. "It's not vampires. It's really a form of hemophilia in a way. There's no capes and fangs."
Fans will also find out that the hotel owner will get involved in a love triangle between Matt Bomer's (another newcomer) alter-ego, Donovan, and Finn Wittrock's character, Tristan.
Murphy added that just like the Countess, her lovers are also afflicted with the "ancient blood virus" which made them crave for human blood. They do their deed by slitting their victim's throat using the razor sharp nails of the "chainmail gloves."
The EP went on to tease that in the middle of Season 5, the show will get to explore the origins of the disease as well as its connection with the infected characters.
"American Horror Story" Season 5 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. on FX.
