'American Horror Story: Hotel' Season 5 Episode 2 Recap: Tristan Is Turned into a Vampire

Following the near-death experience that some fans said they went through after watching the pilot episode of "American Horror Story: Hotel," a strange episode 2 aired on Wednesday, Oct. 14, that took fans to another jaw-dropping ride.

While some expected to see more creatures escaping from mattresses to claim lives again, this week's installment depicted a night in the hotel that offered the extremes of murder and chaos.

The episode revealed how Ms. Evers (Mare Winningham) fell into the wiles of "Hotel Cortez" and how the Countess survives: by drinking blood.

The first scenes saw Sally (Sarah Paulson) sewing in Gabriel (Max Greenfield) into one of the mattresses in the gory hotel as the poor guy realized that he is "not free" after all. A carefree Sally continued to sew until screams from a distance interrupted the moment they shared.

Countess Elizabeth's (Lady Gaga) children are starved so they tried to get blood from the dead body of the remaining Swedish tourist who graced the Hotel. While the baby vampires appeared to be disgusted at their supposed source of survival, Liz Taylor (Denis O'Hare) came to the rescue and took the body. The dead body was then dumped into a hole in the laundry room with the rest the corpses that the vampire family fed on.

Episode 2 also recalled the memory of Alex's (Chloe Sevigny) son Holden being abducted years back. The abduction was depicted in the first episode of season 5. Although Alex insisted that she is upset because her patient acquired measles, it's no secret that memories of her son's disappearance continue to haunt her.

Meanwhile, Alex's husband, John (Wes Bentley), is also being haunted by Holden's memory and he ended up in the hotel's bar. He met Sally and she told him how she was once a songwriter. John, on the other hand, explained that he is on the path of recovery from alcoholism.

Probably the most exciting part of episode 2 is how Tristan (Finn Wittrock) was turned into one of the Countess' likes. The Countess gave some good advice to Tristan after noticing that he seemed to love his new life.

Finally, there's the breakup between Donovan (Matt Bomer) and the Countess. While it is unclear what steps Donovan could take after the Countess decided to throw him out, fans will just have to watch the next episode on Wednesday, Oct. 21 on FX.
