'American Horror Story' Season 4 Release Date: Wins at Emmy Awards 2014, Premieres in October
"American Horror Story" bagged two awards at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on Aug. 25.
Kathy Bates won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries award for her role as Madame Delphin Lalaurie, while Jessica Lange won Outstanding Lead Actress in a miniseries for her portrayal of head witch Fiona Goode.
Bates was emotional backstage when she remembered Robin Williams and told CNN of her encounter with the enigmatic actor at the Golden Globes many years ago.
She said that at the awards show, she was waiting at a pay phone to call her mother, and she didn't have change. It was Williams who gave her a quarter. Several years later, he was presenting the Oscar for supporting actress, for which Bates was nominated. She did not win that time.
"I won this time, and this is for you," said Bates, who was visibly choked up during her interview.
Meanwhile, Lange, who has been nominated six times and has won the Emmy for the third time on Monday night, was very surprised at her winning the award and said she was "profoundly surprised, but very grateful." She thanked her co-stars and show runners Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy.
Sarah Paulson, who played Cordelia Goode Foxx in the show, was also nominated in the same category as Lange. Frances Conroy (Myrtle) and Angela Bassett (Marie) were also nominated in the same category as Bates.
The show has also been nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries. All of the nominations were for the work that was done for the third season of the show, entitled "Coven."
Meanwhile, fans of the show are already anticipating the fourth season entitled "Freak Show." This time, the story will focus on the last freak show in America during the 1950s and its cast of oddities.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" will premiere on FX on Oct. 8.
