'American Idol' Season 15 News: Top 24 Officially Revealed
The judges made their final cut, and from 51 contestants last night, only 24 will continue next week for the Live Shows.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the grueling process to find the final "American Idol" ended with ruthless cut all throughout. The 51 contestants sang their final songs in the Showcase Round, and Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban narrowed the competition further.
The first girls who made it are Stephany Negrete and Shelbie Z, who both gave it their all during their individual numbers. Jennifer said Stephany's amazing, and all three judges were impressed with Shelbie.
Michelle Marie, who claims to be "American Idol's" biggest fan, was the first cut of the evening. The next brutal eliminations followed, and viewers saw the judges saying good-bye to a lot of women including Colette Lush, Jessica Cabral, Jessica Clark, Ameet Kanon, and Terrian.
Mackenzie Bourg was the first male contestant to have made it to the Top 24, along with Trent Harmon, who made history to be the first and last contestant to perform solo on Hollywood Week's Group Round.
The next singers who will continue their journey in the competition are Jenna Renae, James VIII, Kory Wheeler, and Adam Lasher, who was one of the "comeback" kids this season. Jeneve Rose Mitchell and CJ Johnson also made it through, as well as Amelia Eisenhauer, Lee Jean, and Avalon Young.
Another round of eliminations followed after, and it was the end of the road for Chynna Sherrod, Mary Williams, Zach Person, Laurel Wright, Anatalia Villaranda, Isaac Cole, Jon Klausen, Kassy Levels, and Andrew Nazarbekian.
The judges then revealed that Dalton Rapattoni, Thomas Stringfellow, and Sonika Vaid made it through, along with Olivia Rox and the other comeback auditioner Emily Brooke. Gianna Isabella, Jenn Blosil, and Tristan McIntosh will also be joining the others in the Top 24, but sadly, Malie Delgado, Sara Sturm, Jordyn Simone, Tiffany Harnly, Kayla Micklesen, and Mionne Destiny were eliminated.
The two last male and female contestants were called, and it was the battle for the final spot between Jordan Sasser and Kacye Haynes, and La'Porsha Renae and Lindita. The judges chose Jordan over Kacye, and La'Porsha over Lindita to round up the final 24 contenders for this year's final "American Idol" ever.
