'America's Best Dance Crew' MTV Season 8 Release Date: New Season Confirmed for This Summer
After more than two years since the last episode of "America's Best Dance Crew" aired, MTV is announcing the return of Randy Jackson's reality dance competition for another season.
During the weekend at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, MTV programming president Susanne Daniels announced that ABDC would once again return on TV for its eighth season.
The returning series will be comprised with six episodes and will kick off "in the summer," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will also feature new members for its judge's panel and some familiar faces on the talent side.
Daniels went on to say that winning dance crews from previous seasons will also return for its new season. Winners of the first seven seasons are the Jabbawockeez, Super Cr3w, Quest Crew, We Are Heroes, Poreotix, IamMe and the Elektrolytes.
Hip Hop International creators and executive producers Howard and Karen Schwartz said they are thankful to MTV for bringing back the show.
"We so appreciate MTV's decision to bring back America's Best Dance Crew for an 8th season. 'ABDC' is more than a TV show. It's a real life inspiration for millions of youthful followers," they told The LA Times.
Howard and Karen Schwartz along with longtime "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and Rob Lee of Bayonne Entertainment exec produce the show. The series features dance crews from all over the country competing for a $100,000 grand prize as well as the chance to be called "America's Best Dance Crew."
