'America's Got Talent' 2017 News: Show Comes to a Close and a Champion Has Been Crowned

Lauded for being able to spot amazing skills from unlikely people, "America's Got Talent" has garnered fans from all over the globe. The competition has recently come to a heart-warming conclusion. 12-year-old Darci Lynne Farmer has been crowned as this year's "America's Got Talent" champion.

Farmer was up against Filipino-American singer, 10-year-old Angelica Hale and Ukranian dance group Light Balance. All the finalists put on one more spectacular show, with the season finale featuring celebrities like Kelly Clarkson and Jeff Dunham. On the night of the final episode of "America's Got Talent" 2017, the show set a record by amassing 52 million votes.

A ventriloquist at heart, Farmer took the stage with her puppet companion, Petunia, and fellow ventriloquist Terry Fator, who was crowned champion of the talent show during its second season. Together, they performed Dionna Warwick's "Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)."

With Farmer and Hale at the top two spots of "America's Got Talent," Light Balance claimed the third spot. Deaf singer and one of the fan favorites, Mandy Harvey took the fourth spot. After the finale, the contestants congratulated Farmer. Hale posted a photo of herself and her father on Instagram to congratulate Farmer. Although the finale was a bittersweet end for Hale, she expressed the happiness she felt throughout the experience. Hale performed with contestant Kechi and Clarkson for a powerful rendition of "Stronger."

This year's "America's Got Talent" featured Tyra Banks as the host. Model Heidi Klum, singer Mel B, TV personality Howie Mandel, and producer Simon Cowell were the judges. There is no official word yet on "America's Got Talent" season 13. In the meantime, fans can head over to the show's official YouTube channel to see the performances of the talented contestants.

The season finale aired last Sept. 20 on NBC.
