'Amityville: The Awakening' Release Date News: Movie Finally Hits Theaters Next Month

Since it was first announced, the release date of "Amityville: The Awakening" has been pushed back again and again. After it was moved around four times, however, it looks like the movie is finally seeing the light of the day.

The next installment in the "Amityville" franchise was first announced in 2014. Back then, the producers announced that the movie was slated for a 2015 release. When the movie failed to make it to its original release date, the premiere was then pushed back to December of the following year. However, this date was once again moved to January 2017. And since "Amityville: The Awakening" failed to release early this year, many came to speculate that the movie may already be dead.

However, new reports confirmed that the movie will debut for free for a limited time on Google Play on Oct. 12 before it gets a theater release on Oct. 28. A product of Dimension Films, Blumhouse Productions and several others, the movie will open in theaters just in time for Halloween.
