Amy Poehler Tina Fey to Host 2012 Golden Globes
Famous friends and co-stars Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have been selected to host the 70th Golden Globe Awards next year.
The awards show will take place on Jan. 13 just one year after Poehler and Fey made a splash after attending the 69th Golden Globes. The comedians "photobombed" one another- or snuck into each other's pictures- in a video that later went viral online.
Announcing 2013's hosts, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Monday that Poehler and Fey are sure to deliver a great anniversary show.
"The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune in to see them in action," said HFPA president Aida Takla-O'Reilly in a statement. "The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show's 70th anniversary."
The Golden Globes honor the best in television and film, as determined by the HFPA. This year, the Oscar nominations will occur on Jan. 10, just three days before the Globes telecast. The show will air on NBC.
Fans of Poehler and Fey sounded off about the Golden Globes hosts, voicing excitement and joy.
"Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting the Golden Globes," wrote Tyler. "Considering how I want them to host my entire life, this is a good start."
Fey stars in and co-created the hit television series "30 Rock," while Poehler stars on another comedy "Parks and Recreation." Both actresses worked on "Saturday Night Live" and co-anchored on the show's "Weekend Update" from 2004 to 2006.
Moreover, both actresses appeared in the film "Baby Momma" as well as "Mean Girls."
Poehler, 41, recently split from actor Will Arnett- her husband of nine years, with whom she shares two sons.
Alternately, 42-year-old Fey is married to television producer Jeff Richmond. The couple shares two daughters.
The 7-time Emmy Award-winner also received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2010.
