Amy Winehouse Tragic Death: Rihanna, Ashton Kutcher, Other Celebs React on Twitter
Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, was found dead in her London apartment Saturday, spurring stars to express tribute and condolence on Twitter. Among numerous celebrities tweeting their reactions were Ashton Kutcher, Eva Longoria, Rihanna, and Russell Brand.
Ashton Kutcher, who has more followers on Twitter than President Obama, tweeted “Rip amy winehouse” on Saturday after Winehouse’s death was confirmed.
Singer Adele tweeted, “AMY FLIES IN PARADISE…”

George Michael wrote of his fellow British musical artist, “Amy was, in my opinion, the most soulful vocalist this country has ever seen.”
Actress Alyssa Milano tweeted, “Tragic. Rest in peace, Amy Winehouse”.
MTV’s “The Hills” former TV star Kristin Cavallari also shared condolences on Twitter Saturday writing, “RIP Amy Winehouse. Such a talented artist”.
Chart-topping singer Rihanna tweeted, “I am genuinely heartbroken about this.”
She added: “Dear God have mercy! I am SICK about this right now!”
British comedian and husband to singer Katy Parry, Russell Brand made a popular Twitter comment to Winehouse’s death: “When you love someone who suffers from the disease of addiction you await the phone call,” wrote Brand, who is a recovered drug addict.
“There will be a phone call. The sincere hope is that the call will be from the addict themselves, telling you they’ve had enough, that they’re ready to stop, ready to try something new. Of course though, you fear the other call, the sad nocturnal chine from a friend or relative telling you it’s too late, she’s gone.”
He added, “Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today. We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease.”
Brand quickly became a hot trending topic on Twitter following his honest words.
Katy Perry simply said her “heart felt really sad,” and she commented on her husband’s Twitter tribute, saying it was “really poignant” in a tweet Saturday.
Singer Moby posted a tweet just hours after news broke of Winehouse’s death, “After our show in Serbia I wish I’d been able to help Amy. I’m sorry.”
His new album “Destroyed” was released in May, and he had to give a performance the same night following the news. Moby has been sober for several years and says while on tour with Winehouse he had intended to talk to her about her dangerous behavior.
Moby reacted to Winehouse’s death with “resigned sadness,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. “I know a lot of addicts, and a significant percentage sadly don’t survive.”
Investigations surrounding the death of Grammy- award winning Winehouse continue with an autopsy report being completed Monday. The singer’s fans and mourners pay their respects on Twitter as well as with flowers enshrining her home in London.
