'Anchorman' Ron Burgundy Memoir to be Released in November 2013
Ron Burgundy, the fictional journalist and star of the hit movie "Anchorman: The Legend of Rob Burgundy," will be releasing a fake memoir in November, just one month before the sequel to the beloved comedy film debuts.
The faux memoir, entitled LET ME OFF AT THE TOP!: My Classy Life and Other Musings, will be released on Nov. 19 in both hard and digital copy by Crown Archetype, an imprint of Random House. The book will include stories from the character's childhood, as well as his beginnings in the TV journalism business. Additionally, the memoir will reportedly be sprinkled with anecdotal advice on having a successful career and relationship with women.
In a press release posted on the Crown Archetype's Facebook page, Burgundy said: "I don't know if it's the greatest autobiography ever written. I'm too close to the work. I will tell you this much: the first time I sat down and read this thing…I cried like a [expletive] baby, and you can take that to the bank!"
The press release added that the memoir will "offer a rare glimpse behind the camera into the real life of a man many consider to be our greatest living news anchor." Burgundy will "share personal anecdotes about the women in his life, about his dog, Baxter, and his legendary news team."
"Along the way, he'll also give sage advice on a variety of topics that matter most to him," the release added.
The "Anchorman" films are written by screenwriter and director Adam McKay and comedian Will Ferrell, although this memoir is being attributed completely to the fictional character Burgundy. Burgundy is portrayed as a self-absorbed, overly confident news anchor for the Channel 4 News team in San Diego, Calif. during the 1970's.
The second installment of the "Anchorman" series, entitled "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," will open in theaters on December 20. The sequel is expected to take a look at Burgundy's career and personal life as he runs a 24-hour news station in New York City the 1980's.
