Anderson Cooper to Marry Boyfriend After Mother Anxious for Him to Settle Down

Only weeks after Anderson Cooper openly admitted to being gay, it has reported that the CNN news anchor has plans to wed.

Anderson Cooper, 45, may decide to marry his long-term boyfriend, Ben Maisani, 39, in a New York wedding. Cooper only recently admitted to being gay to the public in an attempt to avoid revealing personal details about himself to the public and affect his journalist neutrality.

"I understand why people might be interested. But I just don't talk about my personal life. It's a decision I made a long time ago, before I ever even knew anyone would be interested in my personal life," Cooper told New York magazine in 2005.

It was known for some time however, that Cooper was openly gay although he chose not to discuss it in public. In 2007 he was ranked second on the list of "Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America" by Out magazine.

Now however, after only a couple of weeks have passed since his public admission, the National Enquirer has reported the Cooper is considering marriage with the man he has dated since 2009.

"He'd been considering breaking the news [about being gay] since same-sex marriage became legal in the state of New York last summer," a source told the Enquirer. "It's been about a year now and he wants to get married to Ben. They're totally committed to one another."

Cooper's mother, designer Gloria Vanderbilt, is also eager to see her son settled down according to the Enquirer and approves of her son marrying Maisani. She even went as far as to help the couple work through some previous scheduling issues, to prevent them from splitting, the magazine stated.

Meanwhile in spite of the rumors, the news anchor has stuck to what he does best, keeping his personal Twitter account restricted to mostly journalistic updates.
