Andie MacDowell Surprised About Miss Golden Globe
Andie MacDowell has gushed about daughter Rainey Qualley, who has been named Miss Golden Globe.
Miss Golden Globe is a title that is typically awarded to the son or daughter of a celebrity. The elected person, selected annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, is chosen to assist with the Golden Globes.
MacDowell, Qualley’s mother, thought that role was actually a lot of work. “I had no idea how much responsibility there really was with it. There's a lot of responsibility... You have to be articulate,” she said. Still, the actress was very supportive of her daughter. “She's a smart girl and she's got a beautiful heart, so I'm hoping it all goes really well for her,” MacDowell said.
MacDowell said that the award was a complete surprise. The actress and former supermodel told Access Hollywood that she was thankful for the news, explaining her daughter’s efforts. "She's working really hard to try and make it in this business,” she said.
MacDowell, who began her career modeling for Vogue, eventually became a well-known actress staring in films like “Groundhogs Day” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”
MacDowell recalled her first Academy Awards. “I remember the very first time I went to the Academy Awards was the most interesting experience…I had a sort of naïveté about myself as far as still being in awe of my peers that I put on a pedestal, that I appreciated their work.”
The actress remarked. “It was like I had just joined the club or something.” MacDowell met Qualley’s father, Paul Qualley, when the two were both modeling for Gap.
Rainey Qualley is a singer/songwriter and aspiring actress. MacDowell described her daughter’s voice as very powerful. The 69th Annual Golden Globes will air January 15th.
