Andrew Garfield Speaks About New 'Spider-Man' Star Tom Holland

It's actually been a while now since "Spider-Man" fans learned that Andrew Garfield is no longer coming back to the big screen for a third installment of "The Amazing Spider-Man." He will be replaced by British star Tom Holland in yet another reboot of the hit franchise by Sony. And while Garfield kept quiet about the change when it was announced, he recently finally broke his silence and gave his thoughts on his replacement.

He told ET's Cameron Mathison at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Annual Grants Banquet in Beverly Hills that Tom was a great choice for the role. He was more than complimentary about the young actor.

"It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor," Andrew said. "He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And [he's] a dancer, so his body's the right [form]."

He also admitted that he felt a relief after learning he will no longer need to take on the role of Peter Parker or Spiderman for a third movie. He then added that he is actually really excited just to be fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it.

According to Metro, Garfield was thrilled when he was first cast as Spider-Man for "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie series and even expressed his gratitude to his fans for "allowing him to live his childhood dream." But despite the short time of being the web crawler superhero, there is no hint of bitterness toward Holland replacing him.

Holland will first appear as the superhero in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War" before starring in a standalone film in 2017. And just like Garfield, fans are looking forward to see Holland's take on the popular comic book character. It's just good to know that the former Spider-Man actor is sending out encouraging words to Tom.
