The Sony Xperia E will be released in the U.K. sometime in February.

Specifications on the device include a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.5-inch 480x320 touchscreen display, a 3.2-megapixel rear facing camera, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1530mAh battery, and Sony's mobile software that includes Walkman apps and its Timescape user interface.

The specs on this device are a bit underwhelming as Sony seems to aiming at a market that is not looking for a super flashy Android smarphone. Sony also did not feel the need to include a front facing camera on the device.

The draw of the Xperia E happens to be the fact that it comes running Android 4.1, JellyBean straight out of the box. Other than that, it will need an extremely low price tag in order to attract Android enthusiasts.

Customers looking for a high grade Sony device should look to the better bunch of Xperia smartphones. These devices should be updating to JellyBean sometime soon.

The company is expected to release the schedule for Android 4.1, JellyBean update for the rest of its Xperia smartphone line-up sometime before the end of this month.

"Hey-s/w update is ICS firmware for Xperia U," tweeted Sony Xperia News. "Official update on JellyBean plans in mid-December at blogs.sonymobile.com."

This basically states that Sony will make its major announcement concerning the JellyBean updates on its Xperia line sometime before the beginning of 2013.
