Android 4.4 KitKat Update Release Date: Upgrade Coming Soon to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4, S3
The Android 4.4 KitKat update release date could be coming in the very near future for Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, and Galaxy Note 3 and 2 users, according to new leaks out this week. Many companies announced update dates for the Android 4.4 KitKat last year, however, Samsung users were left in the dark as the company remained silent on plans for the rollout.
Millions of Galaxy S4, S3 and Galaxy Note 3 and 2 users were left frustrated at the lack of news, but there could be hope.
Android users will remember that Google unveiled details of the KitKat back in September 2013, however, the company did not give many details about the new Android version at that time. But in October a flood if details were revealed, which got Android users excited.
At that same time, HTC, Sony and Motorola all released specific information about when the Android 4.4 KitKat would become available for their devices. However, Samsung remained in complete silence.
However, it now appears as though the update could be on the horizon.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has completed its update and to S3 and Note 2 users that was a particularly important update as it provided support for the Galaxy Gear smart watch device, and the Samsung KNOX.
However, many are not switching their thoughts to the Android 4.4.
Although Samsung still has not said anything official, it is reasonably clear to those in the industry that the Android 4.4 KitKat is coming soon. SFR, a French mobile carrier, confirmed the release was coming soon, although it did not confirm a specific date.
However, SFR did say that the Galaxy S4 would have the Android 4.4 KitKat update in late January or early February. Rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would also be seeing the update in a similar time frame.
A leak has also suggested that Samsung is planning an update for the Galaxy S3 in April, but there is not any other details about that at this time.
