Android 4.4 KitKat Updates Announced for Asus PadFone 2, PadFone Infinity and PadFone A80
Android 4.4 KitKat updates for various Asus devices including the PadFone 2, PadFone Infinity and PadFone A80 were announced today.
Asus released a roll out schedule for these handsets. It will arrive for the original PadFone Infinity in Asia and Russia and the PadFone A80 will receive it in Europe. The new PadFone 2 and Infinity will get it in all areas.
Most of these updates are expected to be available before the end of the second quarter of this year. The new PadFone Infinity will get it a little later as the update is scheduled to roll out sometime between July and September.
Asus will also be updating each of these handsets with the new version of ZenUI which is the companies exclusive interface.
The Galaxy S4 Android 4.4, KitKat update is now rolling out for AT&T.
The update is 417.66MB and must be downloaded using a Wi-Fi connection. Once the update is installed, users will finally have the latest Android build.
The software has already arrived for U.S. Cellular customers as the company began offering it OTA (over-the-air) last week with several customers confirming they received it successfully.
It is also available for the International variant of the Galaxy S4 in Russia and India. Users can check for it manually if they haven't received a notification in the Settings menu.
Both Sprint and U.S. Cellular already began rolling out the software for the Galaxy Note 3.
This new software brings minor UI changes included the use of KitKat style white status bar icons instead of the multicolor icons found on past Samsung devices. The smartphone also received a performance boost and an increase in benchmark scores, according to a Sam Mobile report.
The lock-screen now features a camera shortcut that takes users directly to the point-and-shooter. Album art also now shows up on the entire screen when music is played.
