Android 5.0, JellyBean Featured on Next Galaxy Nexus Device
Samsung will use the same tactics when releasing its next generation Galaxy Nexus smartphone by partnering up with Google to produce the device, according to YouMobile.com.
"Samsung and Google are looking to be partners again," wrote the site. "Since Samsung has become the top vendor of Android smartphones, Google will continue to have Samsung develop its Next-generation Nexus Phone, Bringing Samsung's innovation ability with regard to the Android platform, and its ability to control the supply of key components."
With the success of the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich original Galaxy Nexus partnership, it seems the Samsung sees no real reason to change its strategy when releasing its next-generation Nexus smartphone.
The two companies are also expected to feature Android 5.0, JellyBean on the device when it is released.
There is also the possibility that the software could make its debut on the device, the same way Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich launched on the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus in November of 2011.
Google has not released any information on the software and the name JellyBean for Android 5.0 also has not been confirmed.
However, the company did provide a hint for the JellyBean title at this year's Mobile World Congress by offering an Android-shaped bowl of jelly beans at the event.
Ice Cream Sandwich has barely made its mark in the Android market as 2.3, Gingerbread still makes up for the majority of Android devices' operating systems.
ICS is used on only 3 percent of Android devices, according to recent figures posted on the Android development blog.
Gingerbread is used by 63 percent of the Android market.
But with new devices rolling out that come with ICS pre-installed, and Android 4.0 upgrades rolling out for popular smartphones such as the Galaxy S2 worldwide, those numbers are likely to change in the next few months.
