Android 5.1 Lollipop Update for HTC M9 Users in EMEA

Owners of HTC One M9 who currently reside in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions are celebrating as their mobile unit is among those that will finally receive an update with Google's latest Android offering, the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

They have waited long enough, about five months, and now the waiting is over for HTC's latest flagship to receive an update starting Aug. 4. It was in the social networking site Twitter that HTC Product and Service Director of EMEA Graham Wheeler announced the good news to the public. "Android 5.1 coming to EMEA HTC One m9 devices tomorrow ... enjoy," posted Wheeler.

According to Fudzilla, the Lollipop operating system will not really bring major changes. But users can expect a good amount of enhancements like some tweaking of the system volume, an improved contacts app and enhancements to Quick settings. Most importantly, there will be lots of bug fixes and stability improvements with 5.1 update. This will be a big help to solving issues that were included in the Android 5.0.

There are still no further details about an OS update with HTC One M9 users who are in regions not included in the EMEA. But given that U.S. units already have it and EMEA is receiving the update already, it can be expected that those in other regions can get the update as well.

And as how it usually is, the update will be a staged rollout and will of course not immediately hit all EMEA HTC One M9 at once. It may take a couple of weeks for it to completely roll out. Users looking to update their devices will receive an update notification when it is ready for download. This mean that there's really no need to keep on tapping the update button. The Android 5.1.1 update should have a size of 615 MB and will see the build number change to N910PVPU4COG5, reports Latino Post.
