Android 7.0 Nougat OS Update Not Coming to Galaxy S6, S6 Edge Devices Just Yet
Android 7.0 Nougat update previously expected to be released for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge near the end of February
With the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system update now available for numerous Galaxy S7 devices, the expectation is that it will soon be released as well for Galaxy S6 units. However, it appears that owners of those older smartphones may have to wait for a while longer.
Just recently, the Samsung UK Twitter account broke the news that the update for the S6 and the S6 Edge "has been delayed."
Samsung UK also noted that the Nougat update for the aforementioned S6 devices is apparently being reviewed in order to ensure its quality, and that's essentially the only reason given thus far for why the rollout will take a bit longer than previously expected.
Notably, prior to this revelation from the Samsung UK Twitter account, there were rumblings that the OS update could be released for the S6 devices any day now.
An update roadmap previously shared by Samsung Turkey indicates that the Nougat update was apparently set to be released for the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge near the end of February, according to an earlier report from Sam Mobile.
That release window has passed and the Android 7.0 Nougat update is still unavailable, and now it's unclear when this downloadable may be made available to device owners.
For now, the Samsung UK account also shared that there is still no specific date of arrival for the update that can be confirmed.
In addition to the S6 and S6 Edge, other devices such as the Galaxy Note 5 and even the Galaxy S6 Edge+ were also previously expected to receive the Nougat update soon. It's unclear at this point if the release of the Nougat update has also been delayed for these devices.
More news about the Android 7.0 Nougat update and when it may be released for the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge should be made available soon.
