Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta Now Available to Download for Nexus 6P, Learn More About What It Brings to the Device
Android 7.1.2 Nougat beta for the Nexus 6P noticeably missing one key feature that has been made available for the Nexus 5X
After a longer than expected wait, the beta version of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system has now been released for the Nexus 6P.
Notably, this beta update has already been released for other Google devices.
According to an earlier post on the Android Developers blog, the beta update was rolled out for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C as well as the Nexus Player and even the Nexus 5X back in January.
Why the beta version of the 7.1.2 update was not released for the Nexus 6P back then remains unclear, but owners of that device can now do something about that.
Prior to downloading the beta version of this OS update, device owners should know a few things. According to the developers, there may still be some performance and stability issues present in the beta update, along with ones that could affect the batteries of the devices.
Other apps installed on devices running the beta version of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system may also not work as intended with this update applied, so device owners may want to take note of that.
Once Nexus 6P owners are able to successfully download the beta update, they can take advantage of some new bug fixes and optimization tweaks that should help their devices significantly.
Apparently, there is still one key feature missing from the Nexus 6P version of the 7.1.2 update, according to a recent report from Android Police, and that is the fingerprint gesture support that was previously released as part of the beta update that made its way to the Nexus 5X.
Whether that feature will be added later on for the Nexus 6P remains unknown at this point, so device owners may have to stay tuned to see how things go.
More news about the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update should be made available soon.
