Android and Apple Control 71 percent of Smartphone Market Share
Android has been announced as the leading smartphone operating system in the United States, according to Nielson.
Apple has also been named the leading smartphone manufacturer in the U.S., as the research company revealed that a massive 71 percent of smartphone consumers in the U.S. have either an Android phone or an iPhone.
The statistics reveal the increasing dominance of the two tech competitors with the number increasing by four percent from 67 percent in a previous July report from the company.
Furthermore, 83 percent of users who have bought apps in the past 30 days have done so from an Android phone or an iPhone.
Smartphones continue to prove to be the future of the cell phone market, as Nielson reveals that in the last quarter 44 percent of all U.S. subscribers now have smartphones. Revealingly, Nielson has said that in the past three months among those who purchased new mobiles, 56 percent bought smartphones.
