Android O News Update: Software to Arrive Later Than Expected? Google to Provide Info at I/O

The highly anticipated Android O will bring a lot of exciting new things to the table when it releases, but it might take a while to get here.

Google's next-generation software is largely a mystery at the moment although a couple of brand-new features have already been revealed for the next Android offering.

Android O will introduce the Copy Less feature, which makes the art of copying and pasting much easier for users by suggesting text from other apps open in the background so that they won't have to switch in between apps.

Another feature that Android O is bringing is the Gesture Triggers, which allows users to simply draw a letter on the screen to be able to jump to a certain app.

Google has a lot more in store for the firmware that the company is still keeping under wraps at the moment including the actual rollout date of the Android O.

However, looking at the software giant's history when it comes to releasing new firmware, it might be a long wait for some.

PC Authority points out that it took four months for Android Nougat to go from developer preview to final. This might be the same scenario for the Android O.

Additionally, the priority when it comes to new software rollouts are the Pixel and Nexus devices developed by Google itself followed by flagships from well-known smartphone names like Samsung.

Owners of last-generation devices usually wait longer for new software to arrive and it is expected to be the case for the Android O.

At the moment, even Android O's sweets-inspired designation is a secret. There are speculations it will either be Android Oreo or Android Oatmeal.

This bit of information could be revealed at the Google I/O Conference set to take place May 17 to 19 at the Shoreline Ampitheatre Mountain View in California.
