John Cohen, the producer of the film, shared some details about the film's plot. He explained that the story will be answering the question: "Why are these birds so angry?" According to Entertainment Weekly, he said, "This is the origin story for how that conflict came to exist between birds and little green piggies."

Fans can expect that all the birds from the game will be making their debut in the big screen. It was said that the birds will all be having some anger-management issues. This is why they will be so annoyed when the pigs try to take over their territory. The main character of the film is Red, who will be voiced by Jason Sudeikis. Other stars such as Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Peter Dinklage, and Hannibal Buress will also be taking on roles for the upcoming film.

The director of the upcoming film, Fergal Reilly, shared his sentiments about taking the game and bringing it to life. According to Screen Rant, he said, "These are icons in a game that appear to be characters, but really they're just icons. So it's up to us to flesh them out... It's an advantage that we have such a huge brand. A lot of iconic movies come from branded entertainment. But you have to quickly forget about that when you're working on the movie because you still have to, you know, make the movie."

"Angry Birds" is expected to hit theaters on May 20, 2016.
