Anna Kendrick to Play Santa Claus' Daughter in Disney's Upcoming Christmas Movie

Considering her projects in the pipeline, it looks like there is no stopping "Pitch Perfect" star Anna Kendrick from rising to fame. According to reports, the actress has a lot of projects lined up until 2019, and one of them is a live-action Christmas movie titled "Nicole."

In the movie from Disney, the actress will play the role of the titular character, who is Santa Claus' daughter. The movie will reportedly focus on Kendrick's Nicole as she takes over their family business following her father's retirement. Her decision to step up comes as a result of her brother's failure to assume Santa Claus' responsibilities. He will be played by "Saturday Night Live" star Bill Hader.

Production for "Nicole" has yet to kick off, but reports say that the script for the movie is already being penned by "Miss Congeniality" writer Marc Lawrence, with Susanne Todd set to serve as one of its producers.

With Santa Claus often being at the center of Christmas stories, "Nicole" is expected to expand and rework the myth of the popular Saint Nicholas in ways that other movies have never done before. Other films previously released about Santa Claus include "Miracle on 34th Street" and "Rare Exports," as well as Disney's highly successful 1994 movie "The Santa Clause," which spawned two sequels.

According to reports, the upcoming movie will not have any link to Disney's "Santa Clause" trilogy but will serve as one of the two Santa-themed live-action comedies that Disney plans to produce in the near future, the other being "Dashing through the Snow."

Kendrick's fans will soon see her back on the big screen on Dec. 22 as the third installment of "Pitch Perfect" opens in theaters. The movie will follow Kendrick's character Beca and her singing group as they go abroad to entertain the U.S. troops fighting in Afghanistan.
