Anne Hathaway Blonde: Drastic Change Makes Waves
Anne Hathaway has dyed her hair platinum blonde for this year's Met Gala, which took place in New York City on Monday.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit saw countless different looks on Monday night, and Hathaway was among them.
In line with the evening's theme "Punk: Chaos to Couture," the actress wore a black and sheer gown by Valentino and wore her newly dyed blonde hair loosely combed.
"I don't know that you could tell by looking at me, but Debbie Harry was [my inspiration]," Hathaway told Vogue.com on the red carpet, referring to the lead singer of Blondie.
Furthermore, her gown by Valentino was "the most punk thing he's ever done," Hathaway said.
The "Les Miserables" star had her hair color dine by celebrity colorist Marie Robinson, and the new look made waves on Twitter.
The day after the Gala, Hathaway was spotted dressed in jeans and a t-shirt getting coffee in NYC.
Meanwhile, Hathaway's look was not the only fashion statement that caused strong reactions on Monday night.
Other notable trends on Twitter included posts about actresses such as Sarah Jessica Parker and January Jones who included mohawks in their look for the evening. Alternately, Sienna Miller and Madonna opted for accessories involving metal spikes.
Furthermore, 20-year-old Miley Cyrus styled her cropped blonde hair into spikes, while 31-year-old Nicole Richie debuted curious gray hair.
Blending in with the avant-garde theme of the evening, Katy Perry wore a religious-inspired dress by Dolce & Gabbana paired with a crown and dark lipstick.
The Met Costume Gala also saw brighter looks by People magazine's "Most Beautiful Woman" Gwyneth Paltrow and model Kate Upton.
Paltrow wore a bright pink gown by Valentino while Upton wore a green Diane Von Furstenburg dress.
Among some of the most outlandish looks were that of Giovanna Battaglia, who wore safety pins in her hair and Elle Fanning, with her excessive blue eye make-up.
