Anne Hathaway Joins Occupy Wall Street Protests in NYC
Anne Hathaway, one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses, was pictured taking part in the Occupy Wall Street protests last week.
The 29-year-old actress from Brooklyn joined protesters in Manhattan’s Union Square wearing a black jacket, hat and sunglasses. In a move that will be sure to give further encouragement to the movement she held up a sign that read: “Blackboards not bullets.”
Protesters have campaigned against social and economic inequality in New York City’s Zuccotti Park - near Wall Street - since September.
Hathaway changed her clothes as the day went on. She tried to blend in the crowd and go unnoticed by using a red checked pattern scarf to cover her face. However, people started to recognize the Hollywood actress and started to snap pictures.
Hathaway’s boyfriend Adam Shulman, who accompanied her, clearly showed his annoyance and stuck out his hand in front of Hathaway’s face as people tried to take pictures of her.
Hathaway joins comedian Russell Brand, singer Kanye West, actor Mike Myers, as well as Michael Moore and Russell Simmons amongst the celebrities to join the demonstrations.
