'Annie' Star Quvenzhané Wallis Is Youngest Golden Globe Nominee; 'It's Kind of Special' (Video)
"Annie" star Quvenzhané Wallis scored her first-ever Golden Globe nomination on Thursday and she is the youngest actress nominated this year for the prestigious award.
The 11-year-old child star, who made her mark in Hollywood via "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (2012), is nominated for best actress in a musical or comedy film for her lead role in the highly anticipated film. The Golden Globes recognizes excellence in film and television and the 72nd annual awards show will be held on Jan 11, 2015.
"Every kid doesn't get Jamie Foxx to come up to them and say 'congratulations' on your nomination," Wallis told ET of her nomination. "So I feel like it's really special … being with all these great actresses, it's kind of special to be able to be in their category."

The Golden Globes nod comes two years after Wallis made history when she became the youngest actress ever to receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She scored the nod for her role as Hushpuppy in "Beasts."
The Louisiana born actress is fast becoming one of the most sought after child stars in Hollywood and in a bid to stay grounded, particularly when she is not in the spotlight, she often finds sanctuary in her family and faith.
"My family is always there for me," she said according to RollingOut.com "God is always there for me. I have been told by my mother and my father that I need to stay grounded. And don't let anything get to my head, so … I'm trying my best!"
Wallis returns to the big screen on Dec. 19 in the Will Smith and Jay Z produced "Annie," in which she plays a foster child from Harlem.
"Annie was kind of like me — she had spunk and she had confidence. It was really fun playing her. Of course, the dog and all of this stuff [are fun] — [but also] it was really nice working with very professional actors," Wallis – who stars alongside Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz – said. "It's OK to know that you're a foster kid. You don't have to struggle so hard [with] it. Other people are also going through the situation. God is always there for you— it's not that you're alone."
