'Ant-Man 2' Plot Rumors: Won't Be A Heist Movie, May Feature Giant-Man; Paul Rudd To Help Write Script

The next Ant-Man will not have Scott Lang trying to steal something important from a high-security facility. It will focus on the romantic and heroic partnerships between Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and will explore the complexities of Hope van Dyne's character. Fans may or may not see Giant-Man, and, if he doesn't have too much expositional dialogue, they will likely see Michael Douglas return to play the role of Hank Pym. All of these is according to "Ant-Man" director Peyton Reed, who recently revealed some of the plans for "Ant-Man and the Wasp" to Comic Book Resources.

As to whether or not the second Ant-Man film will stick to the general zone of the first movie or try on a different tone or genre, Reed said, "I think there's probably going to be some aspects that maybe call back to the tone of ["Ant-Man"], but for "Ant-Man and the Wasp", we have an entirely different template." He added: "We know what that template is, and we have an entirely different genre template for that movie. But it's going to remain a surprise. But yes, that's already been decided."

He also talked about possibly showing Giant-Man, saying: "Yeah, I mean, it's such a crucial part of his character in the comics. I think to ignore that would be crazy, because there's a lot of rich stuff." Though the director did not reveal whether or not Giant-Man will be in "Ant-Man and the Wasp," fans may see him in some other film in the franchise.
