'Ant-Man and the Wasp' Cast News: The First Heroine in the Title
It was announced that the hit Marvel film "Ant-Man" will be receiving a sequel in the next couple of years.
During the New York City Comic-Con, Marvel revealed that the movie "Ant-Man" will be having a sequel titled "Ant-Man and the Wasp." With that, actor Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will reprise their roles as Scott Lang, and Hope Van Dyne, respectively.
The possibility of the film was hinted during the final minutes of the previous film, which showed Hope's father, played by Michael Douglas, showing her the prototype of the Wasp uniform. With that, she is expected to join Ant-Man in their adventures for the sequel.
Director Peyton Reed expressed his excitement for the upcoming film during an interview by Entertainment Weekly. He said, "I'd love the chance to do a second movie and further the voyage of these characters and do another 'Ant-Man' adventure where it's not an origins story and we're free to just take those characters and go wherever we want to go. I mean, there's clearly some stuff that's set up at the end of our movie, there's some questions asked of these characters that hopefully we could provide the answers to. I feel there's so much more story yet to be told with this character."
This is a milestone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since this is the first time that a Marvel Studios film will feature a heroine character in its title. However, it was supposed to be "Captain Marvel" who will first feature a heroine in its title. However, it was pushed back later in 2019, which means that the "Ant-Man" sequel will release before it. "Captain Marvel" will be released on March 8, 2019.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp" is expected to release in theaters on July 6, 2018.
