'Ant-Man and The Wasp' News, Cast, Spoilers: Is Michael Douglas Returning for the Sequel?

The unexpected success of Marvel's "Ant-Man" has been more than enough to reshuffle the Phase 3 and Phase 4 schedules of Marvel's cinematic universe. Nevertheless, many became excited to know that they will get to see more of the tiny superhero, this time alongside The Wasp.

Despite the movie's release still being three years from now, stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are all set to make their superhero comeback, as well as director Peyton Reed. It has also been recently reported that Ant-Man scribe Adam McKay is looking to return and pen the script for the sequel, but it is still unconfirmed for now. Another character that Marvel seems to be keen on bringing back is none other than Hank Pym played by Michael Douglas.

Douglas, who recently spoke with Collider, admitted that he is already in talks with Marvel about reprising his role, "I just got a call recently — they want to negotiate for a sequel and I thought 'That's great!' Hopefully, I won't have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it. Just a great, great time."

He also took the chance to praise his co-stars and hope to see them back, "The cast was fantastic. Paul, Evangeline, Michael Pena — I'm sure he'll be back. If they can scrape Corey Stoll off the wall, I'm sure they'll want him too — he's such a good villain. And Peyton too. It was a lovely experience, so you know, I welcome it." Douglas jokes that despite the film's release still years away, he is definitely looking forward to being a part of it, "I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018. Ya know, it's hard to conceive of that, but it's all good, all the way around, it's all good."

For now, fans await for more news as "Ant-Man and The Wasp" is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
