Apple Chief Exec Tim Cook Joins James Corden's 'Carpool Karaoke'; CEO Sings 'Sweet Home Alabama' with Pharrell Williams; Song Choice Reportedly Meant to Throw Shade at Neil Young
Tim Cook gets ambushed by James Corden in Carpool Karaoke; Apple will feature a spin off of the series available in Apple Music.
Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook will never forget what happened to him Wednesday as he was off to a keynote event. The aging chief executive was ambushed by none other than James Corden for his "Carpool Karaoke" segment for "The Late Late Show."
Apple unveiled its fall products with "Carpool Karaoke". The tech company has recently announced that it has purchased a spin-off of the series. The new and improved "Carpool Karaoke" segment will now have more celebrities to join and sit on the hot seat together with James Corden and of course impromptu sing their favorite songs.
Apple's "Carpool Karaoke" will stream songs via Apple Music. The series' creative aspect will still be managed by James Corden as well as "The Late Late Show" executive producer Ben Winston. CBS Television and Fulwell73, Ben Winston's company, will produce the series.

The Apple event also featured new products such as the much-awaited iPhone 7 and the AirPods. The event started with a video clip of what transpired inside the actual carpool ride between the CEO, James Corden, and later on, singer Pharrell Williams.
On Steve Jobs
The "Carpool Karaoke" video started with James Corden behind the wheel while Cook was on the passenger side. The two were singing One Republic's song "I Lived" with the words "Hope when the crowd screams out, they're screaming your name."
Speculations were drawn from the song choice and most said that it could be a sentiment, saying that Cook can try all he can but he would never match the magnetic charisma of Steve Jobs. He was about to greet a massive crowd later that day, which was initially Jobs' job. It was just last year too, that a film was released about the reaction of the crowd as Steve Jobs took the stage at Apple's product event launches.
Why ''Sweet Home Alabama?"
Right after Corden and Cook made fun of Siri, Pharrell Williams steps into the car and sits at the back. They began to sing "Sweet Home Alabama." Again, speculations as to why the song was the second choice.
To note, Cook's hometown is Mobile, Alabama. However, there are rumors that they chose the song because songwriter Lynyrd Skynyrd dedicated this as an attack on Neil Young. Young was devoted to the Pono which is a digital media and music player which was also portable. Young always thought that the Pono was a competitor to Apple's music products.
