Apple Fires iPhone X Engineer After Daughter's Video Went Viral
Apple is, no doubt, home to some of the most innovative and groundbreaking technological creations in history. There is also no question that it is serious when it comes to maintaining protecting their most valuable secrets, even if it means dismissing their valued employees.
According to The Verge, the tech giant has reportedly fired one of its iPhone X engineers after the latter's daughter's hands-on video featuring the aforementioned smartphone made waves on YouTube. The employee's daughter, Brooke Amelia Peterson, published a vlog last week, which showed her going to the Apple campus to check on her father.
The video, however, also included footage of the unreleased iPhone X as well as employee-only QR codes.
Peterson had since come up with another video, saying that her father was indeed fired by Apple because of her vlog. Teary-eyed, Peterson confirmed that her father had broken a company rule by letting her take footages of the iPhone X prior to its official release date.
As for Apple, the company requested Peterson to delete her video, which the latter did. The problem, however, was that the video had already spread online before Peterson was able to put it down. In addition, the report said that taking videos inside the Apple campus is strictly prohibited, which makes the filming of the unreleased smartphone a serious violation.
Meanwhile, a report from Engadget noted that Peterson had been affected by the negative backlash she and her father have been receiving. This happened despite admitting their fault and clarifying that they understood the repercussions and that they were not angry at the bosses from Apple.
According to TechRadar, the iPhone X, properly pronounced as "iPhone Ten," sports a new glass design that offers bigger display, though not as big as the iPhone Plus models. It comes with a 5.8-inch, edge-to-edge AMOLED screen with Quad HD+ display and a resolution of 2436 x 1125.
The phone will also feature the Super Retina Display, which will be a first for Apple.
The iPhone X is slated for release on Nov. 3.
