Apple iOS 10 News and Updates: Can It Be Jailbroken? New Jailbreak Video Surface
Renowned Hackers Team Up to Jailbreak Apple's Latest Software
Users have been jailbreaking their iOS devices ever since the first iPhone was released, and the practice continues up to the present day. With a new iOS version comes new attempts of jailbreaking as renowned hackers get their hands on cracking Apple's mobile software.
Jailbreaking iOS 10
Renowned jailbreaking entity Pangu is said to be already concentrating on a jailbreak tool for the iOS 10. The iOS 9 range would see its final jailbreak tool through iOS 9.3.3 version only. This is due to the fact that both iOS 9.3.4 and 9.3.5 are more of security patches rather than legitimate updates. Also, the very close release of the iOS 10 makes it logical to just skip the last two iOS 9 updates altogether.
However, another famed iOS hacker Luca Todesco has apparently jailbroken the iOS 10 already. As the final public beta was released just recently, hackers already got their hands on what would be the definitive features and technical aspects of the software.
Todesco, who goes by the username qwertyoruiop, has uploaded a working jailbreak for the iOS 10 beta 8. The video (featured below), shows the hack which then dubbed yaluX. It works only on devices with 64-bit architecture, meaning that it should run on an A7 processor or higher (devices listed below).
Closer Look at the yaluX
A Home screen app seems to be required for the jailbreak to occur. It is assumed that the app is once again a side-loaded app that contains the jailbreak injection code that Todesco built himself. It then displays the fact that it is jailbroken and the Cydia app can be launched from the home screen.
It also seems to be a semi-untethered jailbreak process, similar to Pangu's iOS 9.3.3 version. However, the one fatal flaw of this jailbreak is that Cydia always crashes, and Todesco takes to Twitter that the app is consistently removing itself from the Home screen.
This jailbreak version would most likely be just some sort of a proof of concept and will not be officially released to the public. This only goes to show that the iOS 10 could still be successfully jailbroken despite Apple's kernel patch protection feature. Pangu, along with another renowned hacking entity ih8Sn0w, had previously released similar demo versions of the iOS 10 jailbreak.
