Apple iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3 Rumors: Report Claims Devices Will Release with A9 and A9X Processors
A brand-new report claims Apple will launch a new iPhone and an updated iPad in March. In addition, the report says these devices will feature A9 and A9X chips.
On Thursday, Feb. 18, Forbes published an article featuring Johny Srouji, Apple's senior vice president for hardware technologies. In the article, the publication cites a "person familiar with the plans, who wasn't authorized to comment publicly" who mentions that in March, Apple plans to announce a new iPad with A9X chip and a new iPhone with a small screen and powered by the latest A9 chip.
The upcoming iPhone, dubbed iPhone 5se, was previously rumored to have the A9 SoC way back December last year. However, the information about the as-yet-unannounced iPad, dubbed iPad Air 3, seems to be a new one. The A9 and A9 SoCs are currently featured in the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPad Pro.
It is widely believed that Apple will launch several new devices in an upcoming event that's supposedly scheduled on March 18. Reports claim that the company will unveil the new 4-inch iPhone 5se and the iPad Air 3, among others.
The new 4-inch iPhone is speculated to have similar hardware and design as the iPhone 6s, 16 GB and 64 GB storage options, 5-megapixel FaceTime camera, an 8-megapixel iSight camera, and always-on Siri support.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Apple tablet will reportedly have 4K display, but no 3D Touch. Alleged leaks of the device were also observed to feature a couple of iPad Pro features, including a four-speaker setup and Smart Connector. However, it's purportedly going to be thicker and wider than the iPad Air 2.
Apple does not typically comment on rumors so, as always, readers are advised to take these rumors with a pinch of salt.
