Apple iPhone 7c Rumors & Update: Tipped To Arrive September 2016, Specs Include 4-Inch Display, A9 Chipset, Metal Body

Fans of tech giant Apple are on the constant lookout for the successor of the iPhone 5c that was released back in 2014. Many have been waiting for the iPhone 6c but apparently, it has not happened yet. Reports say that the iPhone 6c may never see the light of day as the company might jump into naming the next one as the iPhone 7c instead.

According to GSM Arena, the rumor started from information that supposedly originated from the suppliers of Apple's main manufacturer Foxconn. It said that the device will make an official appearance sometime in September next year, which is usually the month for Apple's new launches. The iPhone 7 may also come around the same time.

However, a report by MacRumors stated that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the rumored 7c will arrive early 2016. Kuo noted that it will be a device with a 4-inch display screen with an A9 chip made by both TSMC and Samsung. He predicted that it will have a 2.5D cover glass with curved edges similar to that of the iPhone 6s. An NFC for Apple pay and metal casing with at least two to three color options are also expected.

In terms of camera specs, the 7c may be equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front camera. Most of the reports also say that it will cost between $400 to $500 off-contract, which is acceptable. It's important to take note though that Kuo did not refer to the device as the 7c. But International Business Times said that other sources suggest that name is in line with the budget Apple 5c. Foxconn is also rumored to have already started with mass production of the device.

As of the moment, there is little accurate data available to support the claims. Thus, it's best to take the news with a pinch of salt.
