Apple News: Tim Cook Says Mac Mini Isn't Dead Yet

In the recent years, Apple has been especially active in the smartphone and laptop market, they introduced a new lineup for iPhone, including the much coveted iPhone X, and even integrated the Touch ID on the 2017 MacBook Pro.

However, the Mac Mini, which packs everything that Apple can offer on a desktop seems to have been left behind. Fans are worried that Apple may be quietly phasing out the device. However, recent reports have revealed that that may not be the case.

MacRumors reached out to Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook, who generously replied to his e-mail. According to Cook, the Mac Mini is not being abandoned anytime soon. More details were not revealed but the CEO did say that the product will play an integral role in the upcoming product line. As to whether or not this refers to tech giant's future plans for the iMac and the MacBook Pro, fans will have to wait and see until Cook is able to share more details.

In the meantime, the Mac Mini is still available for sale, despite the fact that it has received an update in almost three years. According to reports, the Mac Mini available in store right now has the same specs as the one that was released in 2014. This means that the internals is noticeably outdated, especially after this year, when many tech giants rolled out updates for their respective product lines.

The Mac Mini is still powered by the following specs: Haswell Core i5 or i7, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel HD 5000 graphics, and a hard drive or a Fusion Drive. These might not amount to much, considering what the latest iMac and MacBook Pro can do without the device. Regardless, Apple is expected to reveal more details on the Mac Mini in the coming months or by next year.
