Apple Preparing to Ban Galaxy Nexus in the U.S.?
The courts recently granted Apple a preliminary injunction to ban the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the U.S.
Judge Lucy Koh responded positively to Apple's request after the company asked for a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus due to patent infringements, according to a Reuters report.
In order to secure the preliminary injunction, Apple must shell out the $96 million bond. Google and Samsung will most likely fight fire with fire and do everything to stop the ban of the device from happening since the Galaxy Nexus is their flagship smartphone.

Once Apple posts this bond, the injunction will be in effect.
The patent used by the judge to make the ruling is a patent encompassing unified search in the phone operating system that takes from Apple's Siri.
Judge Koh also found that Samsung infringed on three other patents with the Galaxy Nexus including actionable linking, slide-to-unlock, and touch screen word suggestion.
Apple's possible ban on the Galaxy Nexus comes at a key time for Samsung, whose device is expected to be one of the first to receive the Android 4.1, JellyBean update.
However, this will not affect anyone who already owns the device.
This patent infringement case with Apple and Samsung is one of many happening throughout the world.
Apple recently won an injunction on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1. The company also attempted to gain a preliminary injunction on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone.
This claim accused Samsung of violating patents held by Apple for its Siri voice-controlled assistant and other UI patents.
However, Apple's plans hit a roadblock when Judge Lucy Koh informed the company that this request would "overload her calendar," given a July 30 trial date for a previous Galaxy case that was already set.
