As part of this mission, life insurance provider John Hancock has announced that fans of the Apple Watch can get the latest of the series for an extremely discounted price of $25, provided they meet some conditions.
According to Engadget, John Hancock partnered up with Apple to promote regular exercise. Dubbed as the Vitality Program, the project is meant to encourage fans to live a healthy lifestyle. The terms and conditions of the program specifically state that those who would like to enroll and pay $25 for Apple's smartwatch will have to accrue 500 points per month for a total of two years to keep the Apple Watch with no additional cost.

Considering how the Apple Watch was previously offered for the members who purchased more than $2 million insurance policies, John Hancock's offer seems to come out of the blue. However, the research employed on the data collected from the Apple Watch revealed that there was at least 20 percent increase in daily activity. Given this incentive, it only made sense for the insurance provider to include the rest of its members in the program.
John Hancock's senior vice president Brooks Tingle also told CNBC that there is no need to worry about privacy and security issues. He mentioned that there were safeguard policies in place for members who have special situations, such as new mothers. Moreover, the company is committed to making sure that the data is delivered to those who have exclusive rights to see it, often just to evaluate if the member is still eligible for $25 discount.
