Apple Watch Series 3 to Launch in Second Half of 2017; LTE Version Expected
Apple fans can look forward to the release of the next Apple Watch this year, should reports prove to be true. The Apple Watch series 3 is expected to launch in the second half of 2017.
According to Digitimes, the news came from sources from the supply chain. Quanta Computer currently takes care of all Apple Watch orders, but it looks like there is going to be a change soon. The same technology publication reports that Compal Electronics has joined the mix.
Compal Electronics will now also carry Apple Watch, with shipping scheduled to commence during the second half of this year. However, when Digitimes reached out to the company for comments, they declined.
The Apple Watch series 3 will still retain the same manufacturer, though, but Compal will also receive partial production orders of the current Apple Watch series 2. Both generations will reportedly stay in the market at the same time.
As for its rumored specifications, the next Apple Watch is expected to have minimal changes when it comes to its overall design and look. This means that the Apple Watch series 3 will appear similar to the current series 2.
However, it is also believed that its features will not have improved much. The performance of the Apple Watch series 3 is expected to be the same as before--the only difference is apparently an increased battery life.
There has been talk of an LTE version of the Apple Watch series 3, though. The current Apple Watch requires being connected to an iPhone in order to access the Internet, but the next generation will reportedly change this up. This is definitely exciting news, especially for those who prefer not to connect their Apple Watch to their iPhone.
Right now, nothing can be determined with absolute certainty. For this reason, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt and wait for further announcements from Apple.
