April Hernandez opened up about her job as co-host of "100 Huntley Street" and what it means to her faith while speaking to The Christian Post recently.

The brand new series "100 Huntley Street" is based on Canada's longest-running daily talk show, and Crossroads Media Group created both the U.S. and Canadian versions of the moving series. Each week, guests stop by that include celebrities, experts and other remarkable individuals who share their inspirational stories, personal challenges and issues, as well as faith and Bible application during the program.

Hernandez serves alongside Eric Metaxas as co-host on "100 Huntley Street," which debuted March 9. The actress first rose to fame with her role in 2007's film "Freedom Writers" opposite of Hilary Swank, and she has also appeared on television series such as "Dexter," "ER," "Person of Interest" and "Law & Order," among others. However, Hernandez admitted that no other job has fulfilled her more than cho-hosting "100 Huntley Street."

"In 2007 I was a co-host on 'The View' and I fell in love with it, I thought, 'I would love to be able to do this one day,'" the actress explained to The Christian Post. "Then 2013 comes around-- and it was really was God who orchestrated this-- it literally fell from heaven. My manager connected me and knew they were looking for a female host saying 'I have someone who would be great for you- April.' It was a divine appointment."

Hernandez went on to recount her first days co-hosting "100 Huntley Street" including the minor adjustments such as reading from a teleprompter.

"There were challenges, there are always nerves, thinking 'Can I pull this off,'" the native New Yorker said. "Just reading from teleprompter, that was the biggest thing. I was intimidated, I never read from it. It's definitely a skill, I respect people who can do just do that naturally make it sound like a conversation. But honestly I'm the type of person I just throw myself into things."

Furthermore, Hernandez's experience with the camera as an actress laid the groundwork of being a great talk show co-host.

"This is where I belong, I use my acting skills, I always remember the audience, keeping it in mind," she explained. "When I'm interviewing someone about something serious, I constantly remember which audience being reached. We get to be ourselves."

In addition to loving her work, Hernandez, who is a born-again Christian, grew closer to God through her post on "100 Huntley Street."

"I believe my job and the way I got my job it increased my faith to the ultimate; it was taken to another level," she said. "It was something I was dreaming of, no idea of how to get there, I never thought I would get there. Never thought I would be on a show straight from heaven, that I had been dreaming of for many years, but I could not have done it without God. All glory to God, no matter how amazing I think I am!"

Looking ahead, Hernandez revealed some of her favorite "100 Huntley Street" segments to come; including an interview with Mary Mary and fellow born-again Christian Brian Welch of the heavy metal group Korn.

"His book 'Save Me From Myself' helped me along my journey," she said of the musician.

"I am so excited that we are moving forward and that we will continue growing," Hernandez continued of the show. "There are so many people to interview and such diversity on the show. Our topics provide fuller pictures, and Eric and I stick out. We share a particular humor, and together we are powerful."

Crossroads is partnering with ATI (Associated Television International) to bring "100 Huntley Street" to millions of viewers through partnerships with networks such as The CW, REELZ and more. Learn more about the television series here.
