'Aquaman': What the 'Justice League' Trailer Says About His Solo Film

The recently released trailer for DC Extended Universe's "Justice League" took the internet by storm, being the only ensemble to stand toe-to-toe against Marvel's own band of heroes. While it teases a lot of spectacle for the movie, it has also given glimpses of what to expect in Jason Momoa's solo movie, "Aquaman."

For starters, the flashy trailer showed exactly how badass Aquaman is being portrayed. He doesn't do the tacky "speaking with ocean creatures" skill, but instead reveals just how powerful he is when he wields his trident, impaling a horde of enemies or even bending the waters.

While his character is seen as strong, strapping and intimidating, there are parts of the clip that shows he can deliver one-liners, which probably makes him even more desirable. It throws away the notion that the movie is not going to be as dark and brooding as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and there's a huge chance that subtle humor may carry on to his solo film.

It's not just Aquaman who is seen in the trailer. His wife Mera, played by Amber Heard, appears with all her regal beauty under the sea. While it is not known how heavy her role is going to be, her cameo suggests that it will be a primer to Aquaman's own quest.

Even if it was just a quick appearance, her work is still far from over as she still has some more lifting to do. She shows she continues her preparation in an Instagram photo as she practices for some much-awaited sword fights.

As far as the villains are concerned, they are depicted as faceless drones, which drew discussion online. Patrick Wilson, who plays as the Ocean Master Orm, retweets and says, "not for long," showing he's proud to be the nemesis in the upcoming movie.

"Aquaman" splashes into cinemas on Dec. 21, 2018.
