Are You a Lukewarm Christian? It Doesn't Mean What You Think It Means (VIDEO)
In Revelation 3:15-16, Jesus tells the church in Laodicea this well-known admonishment:
"I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." (ESV)
Evangelist and poet Joseph Solomon challenges viewers to think about what it means to be lukewarm. He asserts that Jesus is not referring to "lukewarmness" as a statement about a believer's enthusiasm or fervor (e.g. being "on fire" for the Lord). In fact, he points out, this message is addressed to a church, not just individuals.
Solomon rather notes that it's a matter of closeness to God, and that the geographical context of Laodicea way back when is key to this understanding.
