Ariel Castro Logs Falsified by Prison Guards; Kidnapper Died From Auto-Erotic Asphyxiation?
Officials in Ohio have revealed that Ariel Castro may have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation and not from suicide after several prison guards were found to have falsified logs regarding their observance of the Ohio kidnapper.
A report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction states that no visual checks were performed on Castro in the hours preceding his death, but the report only suggests that Castro could have died from such means.
The report released Thursday reveals checks were done twice before Castro hanged himself on Sept. 3 at a prison reception center. The report also says an ambulance was late in arriving, but the delay didn't affect the outcome.

It was revealed that when emergency responders arrived they found Castro's pants and underwear had been pulled down to his ankles and he had a sheet wrapped around his neck, which was attached to a window hinge, investigators said.
Officials also found a Bible open to John Chapters 2 and 3 and pictures of Castro's family arranged "in a poster-board fashion," according to the report.
Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Anne Ralston said she could not immediately comment, but stated the Franklin County coroner classified Castro's death as a suicide last week.
A comprehensive mental health evaluation found "no evidence of serious mental illness or indications for suicide precautions were present," according to the report.
Ariel Castro pleaded guilty to all of the charges against him in connection with the 937 charges of kidnapping and rape of three women in Ohio.
He agreed to a plea deal that saw him receive a life sentence and, in addition, 1,000 years behind bars for his crimes.
Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus were held hostage for 10 years and repeatedly raped and abused by Castro. Berry led the escape from the home by getting to the front door and yelling for help. Thankfully a neighbor heard her cries and helped break down the door and release Berry and the other hostages.
