Arizona Cardinals Guard Alex Boone Might Miss Three to Four Weeks Due to Pectoral Injury
Looks like Arizona Cardinals guard Alex Boone will likely miss some games due to injury this season.
Boone sustained a partially strained pectoral injury in the game against the Dallas Cowboys last Monday and he underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan to determine the extent of the injury on Tuesday. The findings were negative, but Arizona Sports 98.7 FM's Mike Jurecki has reported that he's expected to miss three to four weeks due to the injury.
Jurecki added that Boone is considered day-to-day. The guard did not participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Cardinals signed Boone earlier this month after he was released by the Minnesota Vikings for refusing to take a pay cut, and he started at left guard after Mike Iupati missed two games with a triceps injury.
The good news is that Iupati seems confident that he will play this Sunday when the Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers. However, the Cardinals aren't going to rush him back out onto the field just because he wants to play.
"We'll reevaluate him tomorrow after we put on pads and then see what happens," coach Bruce Arians said on Wednesday, via the Washington Post.
Left Tackle D.J. Humphries could make his return as well on Sunday.
"I'd like to think that D.J. Humphries will return this week, there's a good chance Mike Iupati will return this week. So there's two offensive line starters," Arians told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
"I just want to see them on the field. I'll believe it when I see it, and all those guys that have missed, I want to see them out there and practice at a very high level before I think they can play in this game," he told reporters, via Cards Wire.
Iupati and Humphries were limited participants in practices this week.
